SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is is intended to verify if an e-mail message is sent by a licensed server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this attribute for a domain name makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks if it originates from an authorized server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet if it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will mask an email address then make it look as if you are sending spam. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to enable it is to pick one of your domains from a drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be authorized to send email messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution provides you with the highest standard of protection, but it's not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while the emails for the domain name are handled somewhere else. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can secure your email addresses by enabling the SPF protection service for every domain in your account with only a few clicks. This is done through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous experience with these kinds of things, you won't have any kind of difficulties to activate the security. All that you will need to do is to choose a domain from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be mailed globally only if they are sent from that specific server. When your emails are managed by our company and not by some third-party supplier, you will also be able to use an option for e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name contains our MX records and the latter is the most secure option.
