Every single registered domain name has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain name to the servers of a certain hosting company. This way, you have both your website and your emails managed by the same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are a number of other records, like A and MX. The first one reveals which server handles the website for a given domain name and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, when you enter a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you will be directed to the servers of another service provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails suggests that you could have your site and your e-mails with 2 different companies if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every Linux cloud hosting package that we provide, will permit you to view, change and create A and MX records for any domain or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you will be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update isn't going to take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is equally simple if, as an illustration, you wish to use the e-mail services of a different provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. You may also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it will contact the next one. With our innovative tool, you're going to be able to manage the records of your domain names and subdomains easily even when you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will allow you to view the A and MX records for any of the domain addresses or subdomains in your account and if needed, to edit any of them or set up new ones. Controlling these records is quite easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes just a few more clicks and if you experience any troubles, you can check out our video tutorials on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with little or no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to give you full control over all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're moving your emails to a different service provider and they ask you to create more than two different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
